The Food Safety Unit is part of the National Health Directorate, a national administration under the authority of the Minister of Health.
The Food Safety Unit is namely responsible for:
- official inspections related to food safety and non-animal products, foodstuff in general and all materials coming into contact with foodstuff;
- administrative formalities, including the notifications concerning the activities of food establishments with a view to their registration;
- placing food supplements on the market.
