New amounts for apprenticeship allowances

This page was last modified on 09-08-2017

Apprenticeships are aimed at providing apprentices with the opportunity to be taught a trade or profession by an employer qualified to do so while getting paid for it.

The amount of the apprenticeship allowance has changed for apprentices who have signed their apprenticeship contract after 17 July 2017 (see appendix B of the Grand Ducal regulation).

This development concerns every training leading to a technician's diploma (diplôme de technicien - DT) or vocational aptitude diploma (diplôme d'aptitude professionnelle - DAP).

The amount of the apprenticeship allowance depends on:

  • the type of training;
  • the trade or profession.
Please note that a successful completion of the integrated intermediate project (projet intégré intermédiaire) entitles the apprentice to a higher allowance. The allowance is due on the 1st day of the month following the notification of successful completion to the apprentice and to the employer.

Apprentices who are preparing a certificate of vocational ability (certificat de capacité professionnelle - CCP) are also entitled to an apprenticeship allowance whose amount depends on the apprenticeship year.

Apprentices in a cross-border apprenticeship training (formation transfrontalière) are also entitled to an apprenticeship allowance whose amount depends on the apprenticeship year.
