Apprenticeships are aimed at providing apprentices with the opportunity to be taught a trade or profession by an employer qualified to do so while getting paid for it.
The amount of the apprenticeship allowance has changed for apprentices who have signed their apprenticeship contract after 17 July 2017 (see appendix B of the Grand Ducal regulation).
This development concerns every training leading to a technician's diploma (diplôme de technicien - DT) or vocational aptitude diploma (diplôme d'aptitude professionnelle - DAP).
The amount of the apprenticeship allowance depends on:
- the type of training;
- the trade or profession.
Apprentices who are preparing a certificate of vocational ability (certificat de capacité professionnelle - CCP) are also entitled to an apprenticeship allowance whose amount depends on the apprenticeship year.
Apprentices in a cross-border apprenticeship training (formation transfrontalière) are also entitled to an apprenticeship allowance whose amount depends on the apprenticeship year.
