School holidays provide a good opportunity for pupils and students to discover the real working world. For a maximum of 2 months per year, they can acquire their first professional experience of paid work.
Employers who wish to recruit a pupil or student must conclude a work contract either before or on the first day of employment of the pupil or student.
The specific contract which is not a standard work contract has to be communicated to the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (Inspection du Travail et des Mines - ITM).

Note that the young person you plan to hire has to:
- be between 15 and 27 years of age (the student status runs until the day of the young person's 27th birthday);
- be enrolled in an educational establishment in Luxembourg or abroad;
- attend a regular full-time educational programme.
