Introduction to the protection of data

On Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 July 2017 the National Commission for Data Protection (Commission nationale pour la protection des données - CNPD) is organising an information session on the protection of personal data.

The session is aimed at all businesses, public administrations, associations and other professionals who may be required to collect, exchange and process data of a personal nature.

The seminar is directed to "beginners" and aims to familiarise the participants with the key concepts.

The training will cover the following themes:

  • basic concepts: personal data, data processing, parties responsible for data processing/subcontracting, sensitive data, etc.;
  • the rights of the persons concerned;
  • the obligations of the parties responsible for data processing;
  • the role of the National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD );
  • new changes provided for by the European Regulation on the protection of data (as of 25 May 2018).

The training sessions will be in French and English, at the following dates:

  • Wednesday 05 July 2017:
    • Session in French: 9.00-12.00 
    • Session in English: 14.00-17.00 
  • Thursday 06 July 2017:
    • Session in French: 9.00-12.00 
    • Session in English: 14.00-17.00 
The content of the sessions is identical. It is enough to register for one of the 4 sessions. As the number of seats is limited, interested parties should register by email and indicate the preferred session before 28 June 2017.
