Simple and advanced search

Simple search

You may launch a simple search from any page on the site by using the 'search' field located in the top right corner of the page.

You can enter one or more words. The search results will show all the html pages and other formats of indexed documents (such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and PDF files) which contain the search word(s).

Advanced search

On the page listing the search results of a simple search there is a link which allows you to launch an advanced search.

The advanced search allows you to narrow down your search by specifying several criteria:

Search 'all the following words' / 'this exact expression' / 'at least one of these words' / 'none of these words'

All the following words

The search results will show all the html pages and other formats of indexed documents which contain the search word(s) (simple search).

Example: 'Sports infrastructures' will find all the pages that contain the words 'sports' and 'infrastructures' at the same time.

This exact expression

The search results will show all the html pages and other formats of indexed documents which contain the exact expression entered (in the order in which the words were entered in the search box).

Example: 'Sports infrastructures' will find the pages which contain this exact epxression.

At least one of the following words

The search results will show the pages which contain at least one of the search words.

Example: 'Sports infrastructures' will find all the html pages and other formats of indexed documents which contain either the word 'sports' or the word 'infrastructures', or both of these words.

None of the following words

Any of the 3 search functions described above can be associated with the condition to exclude one or more words in a search.

Example: A search for 'sports infrastructures' with the search function 'all the following words' in the first field and 'nautical' under 'none of the following words' will find all the html pages (and other formats of indexed documents) which contain the words 'sports' and 'infrastructures' BUT NOT the word 'nautical'.

Search in one/several specific section(s)

You can narrow down your search to one or several section(s) / subsection(s) of the site. The default value is 'the whole site', i.e. a search on all the sections of the site, like in a simple search. In order to select several sections and/or subsections, please click on them while pressing the 'Ctrl' key.

Search by date

You can refine your search to documents of a given period by specifying its start and end date. The default value is 'any date'.

Search in the titles/texts

You can start a search on the whole content - titles and texts - of the indexed documents (default value), or only on the titles of the documents (e.g. to narrow down the search).

Display of the search results

You can choose the number of results displayed by page (10, 20 or 50) and sort the list by relevance (default value), by date or by document type (html files, MS Word files, RTF files, PDF files, etc.).

Search results are displayed as follows:

  • Number of results found;
  • Percentage of relevance of the document according to the search word(s) / document title / date of document / format of document / size of document in kb;
  • Summary of the document (if available);
  • Link to the document;
  • At the bottom of the page, you can browse through the number of results pages.

If you do not find the required information despite the search functions, please contact us.
