Government Commissariat for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety

 

The Government Commissariat for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety is tasked with the following duties:

  • coordinating and harmonising the monitoring and inspection of foodstuffs;
  • serving as a point of contact for matters relating to:
    • rapid alert and administrative collaboration systems;
    • the single integrated multiannual national control plan;
    • the Focal Point of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA);
  • implementing the crisis management plan in the event of major food incidents;
  • coordinating continuing training for inspection staff;
  • coordinating the registers of businesses in the food sector;
  • notifying citizens about unsafe foods placed on the market, and managing the food safety portal.
