Change of shop opening and closing hours

The Government Council of Friday 17 February 2012 adopted the bill of law governing the opening and closing hours of retail shops in the trade and crafts sector.
Le bill of law aims to move the legal shop closing hour from 18.00 to 19.00 on Saturdays and on the day before a public holiday.
Moreover, each shop will be granted a "late-night opening" or a specific sales campaign authorisation once a year. For instance, each shop can apply for an exemption and open their doors for a non-stop 24 hour period.
The adoption of the bill of law by the Government Council marks the beginning of the legislative procedure. The law will enter into force after its publication in the Official Journal (Mémorial).
