Employment Fund

The Employment Fund (Fonds pour l'emploi) is supervised by the ministry responsible for employment. Its main objectives are:

  • to reimburse employers' and employees' social security contributions to private sector employers, provided that they hire older or long-term unemployed persons (whether they receive benefits or not);
  • to grant, under certain conditions, re-employment support for employees made redundant for economic reasons, as well as for unemployed persons on benefits;
  • to pay employees any outstanding wages from the last 6 months of work in the event an employer has declared bankruptcy.

The Employment Fund includes a special department dedicated to the promotion of training on the job and the integration/reintegration of jobseekers into employment.
