Social Security Medical Board

The Social Security Medical Board (Contrôle médical de la sécurité sociale - CMSS) is an administration under the authority of the Ministry of Health and Social Security (Ministère de la sécurité sociale). Its main roles are:

  • assessing incapacities for work and, if applicable, determining the provisional or permanent degree of disability with regard to the normal capacity for work;
  • periodically checking and monitoring illnesses or disabilities giving rise to benefits or allowances;
  • conducting medical examinations and issuing opinions with regard to the granting of priority and disability cards.
