Water Management Authority
The Water Management Authority (Administration de la gestion de l'eau) is part of the Department of the Environment in the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure (Ministère du développement durable et des infrastructures).
It is the task of this authority to ensure integrated and sustainable management and effective protection of water resources and the aquatic environment.
Its functions include:
- overseeing and ensuring that water legislation and regulations are applied;
- carrying out water research;
- undertaking the corrective and remedial measures needed to improve water quality;
- informing the public and encouraging them to use water sustainably.
